At Tratzberg Castle, you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of monarchs, emperors and knights, with a history spanning more than 500 years. The castle was originally created as a border stronghold against the Bavarians and as Emperor Maximilian’s I hunting lodge. You’ll find Renaissance-era rooms with original furnishings, gothic, panelled parlours, an armoury, art treasures and the Habsburg Hall which showcases an imperial family tree.
If you want to learn more about the fortress’ history, audio guides will be available, including an immersive audio-visual tour with a fairy-tale theme for younger visitors. In the castle grounds, you’ll have an enchanting view over the impossibly green hills and valleys of the Tyrolean Unterland, and you’ll also find a traditional beer garden and playground to unwind in.
