    Ironton is a beautiful surprise!

Ironton is a beautiful surprise! The lights on the city - the buildings and bridges - at night was so romantic. The river, the town , the historic churches, and the friendly citizens were a joy to experience! It's very easy to get around. The Armory had great food and great service! I love the German Church of St. Joseph on the end of town.

We stayed in Ironton for a wedding, and we drove through other places close by and this was by far the prettiest place to stay with places very near us to go out and eat or shop. We went to The Depot, which was great, for supper and we got to hear three trains and see one go by, it was very neat.

The front desk staff was very friendly during check-in and check-out. I asked for a blanket upon checking in and it was delivered to the room within a few minutes. The room, lobby, and dining area were very clean. The breakfast had many options to choose from and the food was hot.

I left that town 53 years ago and it has gone down hill since I left. The town is run down. The downtown is totally unappealing and long since past it’s prime which is a shame because historically it owns a prominent place in slavery and the Civil War.
