This is one of the cutest and neatest places I’ve ever stayed. My partner and I had a great time reading all of the recipes on the wall and looking through the extensive amount of books. We loved that it felt very cozy and private, and we were still near the national park and other stops on our trip. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Centrally located in the old fishing village of Olafsvik, this hotel is less than 0.6 mi from the harbor. North Star Hotel Olafsvik is set among the scenic surroundings of Snaefellsjokull Glacier.
Located along the coastline, Við Hafið Guest house offers simple accommodations in Ólafsvík. Guests here can benefit from free WiFi and the fitness center on site.
Bikers Paradise in Ólafsvík provides accommodations with a terrace and a shared lounge. This guest house features free private parking, a shared kitchen, and free Wifi.
Place and people are nice,
the right position to visit Snaefellsjokull National Park and the west of the peninsula.
There are no easily accessible restaurants and shops, you have to provide all your supplies.
In the hostel, you have a nice functional kitchen, refrigerator, and a small bar to buy drinking and snacks: light beverages, juices, potato chips, and smarties. To find milk, bread, and food, you have to wait for the day after, at the nearest shop with a minimum 15 km run. Once you organize yourself, life is comfortable, and friend are nice.

Small, quiet town along the water near the tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It is quite beautiful in the area with sites nearby. The location is great if you are spending two days touring the peninsula. The murals are fun to view but that's about all there is to do in the town itself.

We were trying to find a hotel close to the Snaefellsjokull Nat'l Park. Now that we have been there, we would opt for staying on Olafsvik (with 2 restaurants for dinner) or go to other side of park at Hellnar or Arnarstapi.
Hellissandur didn't have much going on, except Gilbakki Kaffihus is very nice for mid-morning snack, lunch or afternoon break. Very nice people.

I went to climb Snæfellsjökull, a 30 year ambition.
I went to climb Snæfellsjökull, a 30 year ambition. Weather was horid, glad to not be spending the next 300 year as part of a glacier. Lets say it was an exciting day and not for those without experience with Ice weapons.
I like the concept of integrating a community with travellers from around the world. Here I was able to get a glimpse of what genuine Iceland is like in remote fishing villages. There was several cinema nights in the theatre where all the locals would come to watch films developed by local film makers. First night was about the local football team and the second a fishing film about a man and his boat. Both films highlighted the importance of having a connection with your community and it was a great experience to watch these local films.
What a treat!
The house itself is insolite, used to be a bar, a grocery shop and later turned into e guesthouse.
Generous and homey spacing and a beautiful flow, you enter from the street to the dining room then to the bedroom and then out on the terrace overviewing the ocean.
The monocular on the terrace was a welcomed add on from the hosts, they knew seals are just in front at low tide...
The cold beers in the fridge were also a nice touch ;)
Loved our stay!
This was one of favorite stays in Iceland and the vacation home was huge with kitceh and 1. bed with gorgeous ocean view right on top of a cliff..Beautiful location direct at the sea, very clean and huge patio with ocean view, High speed wifi and awesome collections of traditional Icelandic songs with a CD player. Really friendly host and will def come back and stay here again. 10/10 for sure for this wonderful stay
The Freezer Hostel is probably one of the coolest places I’ve stayed at in Iceland! It’s beautifully decorated with a lot of art and characters, even the rooms are covered in art! The rooms were nice, beds comfy and the kitchen was pretty well equipped- you’ll find everything you need. The staff is super friendly, happy to tell you all the fun stories about the places or help you plan your day.
The location is terrific, with spectacular views of the ocean through large "picture windows" in the living room and bedroom. Given that Hellisandur is such a small town, Gotuhus is within easy walking distance of the restaurants, gas station with groceries, the legendary The Freezer culture club and hostel, and the entrance to Snaefellsjokull National Park.
Everything about this stay was great! The place had great vibes and was very comfortable to stay at and hangout. The staff was wonderful and were very welcoming! I ended up staying at a quiet time so had a room to my self basically, but felt very comfortable and welcomed throughout the hostel. I would definitely stay again if I came back to the area!
I loved everything about this place! The kitchen had more utensils than most people have at home, so many choices of board games, and all the books! Made you feel like you want to stay for a month to discover everything on the shelves! Such a great idea for an apartment! Do not miss a chance to get breakfast served by a real viking in RAM Iceland!
So this was the best accommodation in Iceland for us. Amazing atmosphere, lots of ideas, books, messages on the walls, wonderful. The atmosphere draws you in, calms you down, it's simply wonderful, and that includes the equipment that is just right to fit into this atmosphere. And the viking (beer) in the fridge was the icing on the cake.
Freezer Hostel has a huge living room, with musical instruments, many books, games, coffee & tea, very warm and inviting, and immediately feels like home!
I even made some music with one of the staff (flute & guitar), met many great people.
This is probably the best (or one of the best) hostels in Iceland.
Beautiful, cute and quaint house. Loved staying here. Very responsive hosts. Would highly recommend! Great location to explore the peninsula. Restaurants in town were all closed for the season but we found restaurants 10 mins away and a grocery store so no problem. Loved the murals in this town also.
Great location overlooking the water in the small town of Hellissandur at the tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We did a two day trip along the peninsula from Reykjavik so this was a perfect location for the night. Enjoyed reading a book in the living room and watching the ocean.
Awesome view and cute house. Best place in Iceland we've stayed in. We watched a beautiful midnight sunset and were overall satisfied. Neatly decorated and clean as well! Comfortable beds and little extra goods here and there!
The first morning we got a breakfast box for each one and it was not very good. The second morning there were more people in the hotel and breakfast was served and each person choose what to eat, much better.
It was our first experience with “no reception” arrival but it worked very well. Email received day of our arrival provided code for entry to hotel and code for room. The rooms were exceptionally clean.
Amazing place surrounded by beautiful nature. The staff was lovely! Beautiful newly open restaurant where you can eat nice dinner.
Really recommend to stop by and slow down for a bit.
Anna had given us a warm welcome, helped us with our trip preperations and was the best host we could ask for!
We loved the place so much, we decided to stay one more night here
