Windermere is very small and pretty, but you're better off going to Bowness if you want all that *plus* the views. Windermere was quieter than Bowness though, which makes it a great place to stay over if you're travelling to more touristy places nearby in the daytime. There is an amazing gift shop in Windermere on the corner, and the Tapas restaurant looked great, even though we didn't get time to eat there. The park on Park Road was lovely for dogs and kids, and big enough to have a proper walk around.

An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants.
An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants. Bowness-on-Windermere is approx 1 mile away, this has a better choice of bars/shops/restaurants. The bus station in Windermere is located near the main road entrance. Bus trips are currently £2 per person each way (April 2024) and we decided to travel by bus to Keswick and enjoy the stunning scenery, and no expensive parking charges. Will definitely be going back to Windermere.

I have fallen in love of Windermere.
I have fallen in love of Windermere. I love hiking and nature and this place have everything you need to hike for days, do cycling and much more. Ideal for solo travelers or to visit with family and dogs. I will probably repeat the experience but in summer as some trails are better done with sun conditions /dry paths. There are lots of nice places and different restaurants in Bowness with fantastic food to enjoy. I would really recommend Windermere and closer villages like Grasmere / Ambleside for anyone wanting to spend some days surrounded by nature.

First of all do not book this property with breakfast included. You basically just pay too much for toast and butter! Nearby town has very nice cafes. Also make sure your room is not damped like our’s was! It was unbelievable!
They never cleaned our room and had to ask four times for fresh towels! The location is very nice but unfortunately the quality of the hotel has dropped significantly since last time we stayed in it! It was a huge disappointment.

Visiting the lake and taking trips around it on boats was fun. There are a lot of restaurants and bars to visit.
Apart from visiting the lake and eating out at restaurants there isn't that much to to do.

Windermere is a beautiful place very picturesque and plenty to enjoy on your stay I could highly recommend a walk into Bo'ness and having a look around the many shops on offer the church in particular is a peaceful place, then if your after a good pint the whole in the wall offers a high standard of pint 😀
the room we were in was very spacious with lovely decor, clean with great facilities and everything needed for a very comfortable stay. we found staff to be very friendly and accommodating. breakfast served at a time agreed to by us, brought to our room, the hotel is situated perfectly for a nice stroll into Windermere or up to Browness. We couldn't fault our stay and would definitely like to return
Very close to lake Windermere, gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous location. We were in the cottages and the room was really clean and spacious. The swimming pool was really nice too.
Staff were so kind and catered really well to a nut allergy my partner has, the lady behind reception (didn’t catch her name, but I think she was American?) was so helpful when we had an incident that required first aid.
Location and views onto the lake was great, bit far out so you can’t walk to Windermere or Ambleside for a drink, but the bar in the hotel was fine. Didn’t get to eat at the restaurant but smelt amazing walking past. We were lucky enough to have a balcony overlooking the hotels jetty, which is a great place to relax. The spa was also great, just remember to book in advance.
Alison is one of the most thoughtful hosts. When we checked in to our delight we found the house to be stacked with essentials. She was also extremely approachable and helpful with suggestions on best restaurants and other queries. Alison it’s hosts like you who reinstate our faith in making vacations worthwhile not by staying at hotels but homes like that of yours.
Westbury House is ideally situated, very close to central Windermere but wonderfully quiet. Jo was so welcoming and a lovely host. The room had everything I needed after a full day of exploring, lovely warm shower and facilities to make a cup of tea. Breakfast was lovely! I would 100% recommend this property and hope to stay with them again in the future.
Richard and Ada plus all the staff work to high standards to give their customers the highest standard of hospitality. Breakfast is fantastic with lots of choices. Rooms were Immaculate. Hotel is perfectly placed for Windermere and Bowness on the main road with parking either on site or within 100 yards. We will return in the near future.
Wonderfully quirky little B and B. A very comfortable room with enough bedroom space. Loved the claw bath, this was in the bedroom, I loved this but some may not. The staff were friendly and welcoming. This little place was the perfect walking distance to Bowness for restaurants and Windermere for shopping.
I like everything about this accommodation and I had a pleasant stay here in Windermere. The hosts were nice and knowledgeable (I appreciate all the travel tips given) and they had everything I needed. Love the daily service and the little fridge with cold water and milk! The cookies were also lovely!
Good location. But the wooden floors and cupboard walls are worn out - they render the rooms noisy/squeaky and totally lack privacy as one can hear each word uttered in the next room. Also, there was cobwebs. The bathroom is too small for a 4.5 star hotel. There's no elevator. Breakfast was so basic.
The team at the hotel were great, so friendly.
Rooms were beautiful.
En-suite Spa room with huge Spa bath and hot tub. Separate en-suite steam/shower room.
Breakfast was delicious and served in room by choice.
Great location for Windermere and Bowness.
Ample parking.
We have enjoyed a very comfortable, warm break at Windermere Park. Lovely hotel in a brilliant location close to town & the lake. We was made very welcome by Jeanette, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful building and in a lovely area.
Rooms are very outdated and definitely aren’t the type of hotel you go to for luxury. However, that being said this type of hotel is perfect for a short and sweet trip. It did the job and no complaints.
It was a lovely home it had everything you needed close to the shopping the dogs and plenty room outside to play and our host left us bottle of wine and chocolate and biscuits you could travel easy to all the attractions around Windermere
Excellent hotel, friendly staff & wonderful facilities. The single room was large with a spacious en-suite & a very comfortable bed. The breakfast & coffee is excellent with stunning views of windermere from the dining area.
Beautiful views of Lake Windermere from this hotel, really liked the outdoor spa facilities. Gorgeous weather when I stayed, which really made things better.
Room was comfortable with balcony.
a beautiful location overlooking Lake Windermere, a lovely room, gorgeous hotel and great breakfast. A very quiet and peaceful stay, would recommend and will be going back.
Beautiful and cozy hotel! We only stayed one night, but it was very close to Windermere towne center. Very friendly and accommodating! Would definitely return!
