True rainforest environment, and lovely mountains surrounding the town of Xilitla, exceeded my expectations. That town itself is run-down, without many restaurant options. So, staying outside of town near the Edward James gardens, really makes sense.

We were wondering whether we should visit Xilitla and now we are so glad we decided to go! Had a great time, would have regretted not going. Driving there and from is another experience, with winding roads in the mountains and beautiful scenery. Xilitla is a small but very busy village, with local food and very friendly people. Not too many tourists, amazing nature. The surrealist garden is also worth visiting.

True, it could be a bit of a challenge getting up the hill to the square for some people. The sculpture garden was very close also. The owners of the hotel have a small restaurant a couple of meters away with good and cheap food (full menu for ~65 pesos + drinks). There is airco which is very nice in the hot evenings (at night it cooled enough to have it off, but it was winter).
