Letterfrack Farm Cottage in village on a farm beside Connemara National Park, hotel in Letterfrack

Letterfrack Farm Cottage in village on a farm beside Connemara National Park offers accommodations in Letterfrack, 3 miles from Kylemore Abbey and 12 miles from Alcock & Brown Memorial.

Nice big house. A few quirks with the light switches (you'll see if you stay here) but an ideal place for our group of cyclists, plenty of space and all the things we needed. BUT there's a bit of friendly farm-life wandering about, so close the front door if you don't want goats standing on the dining table, or small friendly dogs wandering in.

We stayed in Letterfrack for the Tour of Connemara cycle.

We stayed in Letterfrack for the Tour of Connemara cycle. The holiday cottage accommodation was lovely, very clean and spacious, and walking distance to the pub / restaurant. On the Saturday night, the staff in Veldons helped to accommodate our expanded party, which included a small dog. the food was excellent, the service even better. And lovely atmosphere afterwards for a few drinks and music. We will come back...

Lovely bar food in Letterfrack, great chowder.

Lovely bar food in Letterfrack, great chowder. We visited the woodwork college and viewed wonderful work done by the students. There’s a great little book shop down behind the college with a delightful cafe in a lovely row of houses which was a Quaker village. We spent about an hour in Letterfrack National Park and could have stayed longer. It’s very well laid out and organised but do bring bug spray. The jewel in the crown has to be Kylemore Abbey. We spent hours there as did lots of other visitors and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. You will not be short of anything to do in Letterfrack. Clifden is also nearby as is Cleggan from where you get the boat to Inisbofin, a delightful island well worth a visit.

So many good places to visit if you like walking , swimming,...

So many good places to visit if you like walking , swimming, hiking. We recommend a visit to Lettergesh beach and Glassillaun (Co.Galway) beach. A little further away North (drive via Leenaun towards Louisburgh and return southwards down the coast) is a small beach called Cross Beach (or Killen Beach, depending on who you ask), where we found a many thousand year old forest and the peat it was growing in, all half-buried on the beach. There were at least fifty tree stumps and huge areas of peat, all of which get covered up again with every high-tide. An amazing and memorable visit. On another day you can visit the smaller Coral Beach beyond Clifden, where the sand is made up of billions of tiny pieces of coral and millions of tiny curious sea-shells. We also climbed Diamond Hill, at Letterfrack. A marked trail with a choice of three levels of walking difficulty, The summit of diamond hill is only a few hundred metres, but the views are amazing when you get there. A good three hour walk/hike, if you climb the hill. Shorter options available too & sign-posted.

Visited the National Park Visitor Centre - interesting...

Visited the National Park Visitor Centre - interesting buildings and delighted to watch a Dipper alongside the weir. Didn't have enough time to walk the trails but would like to next time. Easy walk up a slight incline from the village, past the Rangers office to the Visitor Centre - you don't have to walk up the road that visitors' vehicles take. Veldons was booked out with two large groups. Maybe best to book in advance. Ate in Cloverfox. Tasty food and lovely, friendly staff. Music in Veldons afterwards. Heard that the Guinness was good! Lots of amenities in the village - restaurants, pups, craft shop, large grocery, hardware shop, GMIT School of Furniture, Connemara National Park Visitor Centre. Short drive to Renvyle Beach and Kylemore Abbey.

Everything! The location was beautiful, the room was a great size and very quiet, and the staff were wonderful--very friendly and informative. Great food in the restaurant as well (we had both breakfast and dinner there). Honestly, it was the highlight of my entire trip to Ireland. I wish I could live here!

We had a lovely family stay in the cottage. The location is truly astonishing, isolated in the middle of the Connemara coast, with a private beach and easy access to walks around the area. The house is big enough for 6 adults, the kitchen is fully equipped and each room has its private bathroom.
