We loved Stresa - there was a lot to do there and in the area. We took ferries to St. Catherine Monestary and to Isola Bella which was incredible. We also took a day trip to Lake Orta and did a hike up the hills for beautiful views of the alps. You could defiantly stay longer - it is a great base camp for exploring the area, especially if you have a car. But be warned - roads are narrow and winding and the Italian drivers are crazy. Stresa had lovey shops and so many good restaurant choices - the hotel staff was great at making recommendations.

I like the location of the town, the vibrant character of the town with its bustling shops and terrific collection of restaurants including a handful that are Michelin-recommended (but not starred YET).
I like the size of the town- not too big, not too small, totally walkable and easy to learn your way around!
A most beautiful location, on the wester shore of Lake Maggiore with snow capped Italian and Swiss alps visible on the horizons above the lake in early to mid may, and best (ferry) access to the 3 nearby Borromean islands, two with their beautiful tourable Palace and Gardens (Isola Madre and Isola Bella) and one for its shops and eateries ( Isla Pescatori aka Superiore).
Restaurant prices are ridiculously affordable compared to Milan or Switzerland: a foodie heaven. Michelin-listed restaurants (not yet "starred to my knowledge) serve exceptional and genuine regional fare, my favorites were Al Vicoletto, Ristorante Pizzeria Pappagallo, Lo Stornello, and the one we didn't have a chance to reach but will next time is on the hills above Stresa with the views called La Rampolina.
If you are a wine lover or foodie, be sure to stop by the La Cambusa Wine shop for a free tasting and learn the owner's secret favorites!

Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake.
Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. The lake and views are stunning and well worth a visit, nicer than stayin in Milan city centre.

A very picturesque town right on the water.
A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.

Nice atmosphere and charming town center. One of the best gelaterias !!! Great restaurants and nice to just hang out.
The Borromean Islands and the hermitage Santa Caterina are great places to visit - or you can go to the other side of the lake, even the Swiss part
Overall, people are very friendly

Proximity to the lake was excellent.
Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.
Breakfast was hearty and delicious with many selections. Loved that it was served earlier - perfect for those who wanted to do the Borromean islands at 9 am.
This hotel is in Carciano, about a 15 minute beautiful walk by the lake to Stresa. One can take the ferry to the Borromean islands from here, just a 4 minute walk from the hotel. The views in our 3rd floor room facing the lake were fantastic, especially when in its balcony.
Comfortable accommodation with million dollar views.
We got spacious 5th floor room with amazing view to Lake Maggiore. Room was stylish, WiFi was working well (connectivity & speed). Breakfast was amazing with high quality ingredients (cheeses etc.) Free parking was also nicely organized. Hotel itself has a good location on the beach of Lake Maggiore and just few mins walking distance to Stresa downtown and ferry docks to Isola Bella
We continued our trip with good memories after excellent stay at Hotel La Palma - thx!
We loved our stay at Sempione boutique hotel. The view was breathtaking - we could spend hours just looking at the lake and the mountains from our balcony or from the rooftop terrace. Beautifully renovated, every little detail was well thought through.
The owners and staff was welcoming and went above and beyond in order to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you for your kindness and impeccable sense of service and custom care. We will absolutely be back!
We were completely blown away by this incredibly beautiful hotel. Breakfast was extensive, with lovely tables overlooking the lago, wonderful pools and spa/wellness center in glass pavillion is brand new and included in your stay, staff is perfect, we cannot find enough nice things to say. Our family plans to return as often as possible for a truly relaxing experience - not to mention the very cute town of Stresa.
The hotel is located super close to the Lago and within walking distance to the centro. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The entire place is really clean and the room was cosy. The pool is small but we’ll kept and there are lots of lounging chairs, umbrellas and towels available. Heads up if you are tall like us (6 ft): the bed was only 6’3” (as is the norm in Italy) but it’s big enough to still be comfy.
A charming family run Italian Hotel.
Our balcony had a magnificent view of Lake MAGIORE, loved sitting there having our lunch which we bought from a supermarket at STRESA the town located way down the winding road from the hotel. we had a car but it was a very long and winding road down!!!
From the town of STRESA you can catch a hop on, hop off ferry to explore the other Towns/places on Lake MAGIORE.
The suite we had was amazing - very spacious, clean and comfortable with a very large balcony with quality comfortable seating and fabulous views. The staff were excellent- a real asset to the hotel. Breakfast was presented beautifully and was great value for the price. We would highly recommend to anybody wanting a perfect place to stay in Stresa.
Small hotel, conveniently located steps from the center of Stresa and the ferry docks . Hotel is very well maintained and has wonderful views of Lake Maggiore. It is spotless and in wonderful condition. The Manager and Staff are excellent and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have a good stay .
Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Right in the centre of Stresa with no noise either in the apartment or on the balcony. This place is very clean with plenty of space for two people, nice balcony, wonderful hosts (thank you Georgio and family) and most importantly it is great value compared to staying in a hotel.
Excellent accommodation option in Stresa, next to Lago Maggiore.
Wonderful hosts (Fabio and Cristina), able to help you in any possible way they can (e.g. car pickups, information about the area and bookings).
Air conditioning in the whole house.
Beautiful area in Northern Italy, close to Milan.
We loved this Hotel, our huge room had a balcony overlooking the main square in Stresa and would have been quite grand back in the day. The whole place was spotless and the staff were very welcoming, particularly the owner, she even baked cake!
Very friendly helpful staff. I had been staying down the road at the Hotel Regina Palace for a conference. Moving to Fiorentino felt like being at home. It made a great base for my explorations and I enjoyed a meal there one night.
Beautiful hotel , good location for walking about in Stresa . Rooms well appointed , very comfortable bed , bathroom well stocked with toiletries, fabulous shower. Terrace balcony seating area - excellent .
The room was large and you had everything you needed. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Oh and since it's Italy, one should mention: they actually do speak english and german perfectly
Stunning views. Room was not huge but well appointed. The breakfast was the best offering I’ve ever had at a hotel. Go hungry because there are a million options!
