We loved the fireplace that was in the room.
When we dropped of our bags - long before the scheduled check-in time, we intended to arrive early evening.
On arrival the fire was burning - awesome as it was cold and wet.

The rooms were really beautiful and spacious, and equipped with everything we could have wanted. The furniture all over the hotel is beautiful.
The gardens were breathtaking and really created such a relaxed atmosphere.
The brewery is definitely worth a visit to, for the beer and the gin. Both were really amazing!
The staff were very friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them.

6 days is about enough time to do one route of the Midlands Meander thoroughly. I think 8 days was a bit too long this time, but it was extremely relaxing and we managed to have fun for every day that we were there.

Everything! A lovely gem of a place. Beautiful views and such tranquility, just what we needed. The owners were so kind and generous to have given us bottled water, eggs, milk, rusks, firewood and even firelighters. A beautiful cottage. Absolutely clean and very spacious. We adored the bathroom/shower. The rooms/beds were extremely comfortable. Many blankets located in the lounge and bedroom which we loved as it was quite cold in the mornings and evenings.
The friendliness of the staff and general manager. We were just here for one evening and we probably ran into and spoke to the manager three times. I live in hotels, I rarely meet the manager.
The hotel just had really great vibe and it felt like you part of something great.
They still do the little things, turn down service, a choc on the bedside, it is nice to see those traditions.
Friendly staff, underfloor heating in the bedrooms for those chilly nights, warm showers, comfortable bed and crisp linen. Delicious food, beautiful grounds to walk around and explore or just sit and admire, lovely bar ... actually everything was just perfect. Would definitely recommend. Will hopefully be back sooner rather than later.
I don’t want to comment on the breakfast as I don’t eat breakfast, but the dinner at the restaurant was exceptionally delicious!
The atmosphere is so peaceful and the service friendly without being invasive.
I particularly love the ambience of the hotel and the the floatation pool is my absolute favourite 🤩
Shabby chic treasure in Nottingham Road. Attention-to detail; comfortable beds; abundance of space in the living area. Cozy fireplace; well equipped kitchen.
Beautiful scenery; farm animals; play area- it is truly family friendly.
Staff was very friendly & eager to help.
We will definitely be back soon
A beautiful spot - central to restaurants and family. A huge plus was feeling safe in the estate and in the apartment. Safe, clean, and comfortable. Thank you to Sam for the hospitality and special little touches. The popcorn, the wine, the milk, rusks etc.
What a beautiful gem Lavender Trout is! We were a big group and were very comfortably accommodated! The scenery is gorgeous! Great facilities, clean and comfy! And super helpful staff! The added bonus of friendly Jack Russel company was the cherry on top :)
We stayed here because we attended a wedding at the Fordoun hotel and it worked very well. The host is thorough and knows exactly what travellers need. The place is taken care of very well. Just be careful it does get misty if you drive in the evening.
The property is located in Gowrie village so we could walk to shops and restaurants and close to all wedding venues in Nottingham road. The unit is well equipped and comfortable for 2 couples or a family and has everything you need
The breakfast and location great. Siya and Mandy very friendly and always helpful and there to see to our comfort. Staff in restaurant saw to all our needs and rooms were well kept and always fresh towels. Thoroughly enjoyed.
hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. Going out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The hotel is set is healthful, picturesque grounds. It is a relaxing and quiet place.
It is self catering. We received milk and eggs. We had lovely dinner down the road. The road is particularly bad though with potholes to town. It is further out from Nottingham road.
