So much of what I know about ancient Egypt, the pharaohs & history is found in this awesome place. Too much to see in 3 days.
We had a private guide which helped loads including adjusting our sightseeing plans to include things we knew nothing about. Valley of nobles & workers are both worth adding in, not just the kings. The hot air balloon ride was well worth the extra as was the evening light & sound show.
Travel was easy in a private car.
We mostly ate at the hotel because the food was so good.

Luxor is an amazing location, feels almost like an Italian city, with the antiquities in the heat of the city, the wide river and river boats.
We met really nice people, but unfortunately met a few scammers too.
Shopping can be a bit of a hassle, with people pulling you in. I gave up and shopped in Cairo instead.

A beautiful city, my second trip following a trip last November to valley of the kings. I wanted to come back just to see the city and it didn’t disappoint. I just wish I had had more time than 2days, 1 night… I will be back to lovely Luxor. A surprise around every corner…

The hot air balloon was really the highlight of our tour in Luxor. No one should miss it along with the visits to the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshetsup Palace. Downtown Luxor was also a must-see specially the old market place and the Luxor Temple and don't forget about the local food.

Luxor's archaeological sites are the most impressive I've ever seen. They are spectacular.
I went in April, in spring, and the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius. The locals told me that in summer the temperature will be around 50 degrees.
The population appears to be very poor and the city is poorly maintained.

So much !
So much ! Magic Carpet Tours were excellent, organising a wonderful balloon ride, a dreamy sunset felucca trip to Banana Island, an amazing driver called Hassim who took me to the Valley of the KIngs, Hatshepsut's Temple, Karnak, Memnon Colossi, Temple of Luxor, and didn't hurry me at all. He drove me to Aswan the next day via Edfu and Kom Ombo. Luxor is fabulous, busy, lots of street sellers trying to get you buy or ride in their horse carriage, but a polite 'La Shukran' (no thank you) was fine and they are just making a living like the rest of us! Nefertiti Hotel was a peaceful sanctuary, and I would not have missed Luxor for the world. Personal highlights: Karnak Temples and Seti's tomb at the Valley of the Kings - awe-inspiring.
One of the things that I liked the most about the Cleopatra Hotel was the kindness and constant concern for our comfort and well-being. Nasser and Mahmoud are the best hosts we have met in Egypt. They made us feel like family. Very special, transparent and trustworthy people. The hotel facilities are very comfortable and it is located a few minutes walk to the local Nile ferry station. Good breakfast. The hotel offers tour and transportation options in Luxor at a good price. Highly recommended and we would stay at Cleopatra Hotel again.
One of the best value for money hotels I've ever stayed in. Egypt isn't a careless destination in terms of accessibility, cleanliness and comfort, but in the New Memnon hotel we were in the most friendly atmosphere, experiencing all the best features of the country and protected from it's less pleasant characteristics. Virtually everything was enjoyable - the rooms, the views, the food, the garden, the location, the stuff. Special thanks the hotel owner, Mr. Said, who made our stay there just magical.
This was the best place we have stayed at in Egypt!
Badaway, the owner is an amazing host and was so helpful and kind, was very attentive to anything we would be needing. The apartment has fans, air-con, comfortable mattresses, and a terrace with a great view over the Nile. On top of the house there is roof which we could use to relax and chill.
I can't recommend this place enough! Don't stay anywhere else in Luxor - that's the place!
I am an experienced traveller to Egypt and Luxor. This is the best hotel on Luxor's West Bank. I can recommended the location, convenience and family atmosphere of the staff. Meals were excellent. The resident chef Ali and his helper Mustapha really know about fresh ingredients and cleanliness. Very economical for the level of accommodation. Security is good. Breakast on the roof restaurant is awesome. Take a tip and book here.
This boutique hotel is a wonderful gem on the west bank of Luxor. Its owner Sayed clearly takes great pride in taking care of his guests and in providing a tranquil oasis away from the busy city and sightseeing. We are vegetarians and the chef prepared the best meals of our entire trip in Egypt. All the staff take great pride in attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble.
Gorgeous grounds and pool area right on the Nile. We got a family room, which was actually two rooms for our kids and it was great for them to have extra space. It was expensive for all of us to stay, but relative to other hotels in Egypt it was great value.
Breakfast was excellent.
Great service by the pool. Happy hour was nice.
The hotel was great and the staff were very kind and helpful. We felt at home, yet also as if we were in an exotic ancient paradise. You feel like you're really in Egypt here. The breakfast was delicious and the outside cafeteria area is heavenly. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Luxor and West Thebes.
Ideal central location for Luxor, railway station just up the road, views over Luxor temple, souk just at the back of the hotel, ATM at the front.
But it is the staff who really make this place. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is too much trouble, very friendly and happy for you to have as an original Egyptian experience as possible
Perfect hotel for a stay in Luxor! The staff is lovely. The rooms are very good . The roof top with swimming pool is sublime with its view of the temple. The hotel is ideally located in relation to the attractions of the city. Finally breakfast is really a plus, it changes what many hotels of this range in Egypt offer.
The Hotel was ok, located on the Nile, relatively clean (by Egyptian standards). Has several restaurants & bars on the premises, with many seats in the garden overlooking the Nile, which is great. Prices were not high. For Egypt it would probably deserve a score of "8", for Europe more like a "5", so I gave it a "6".
Family run hotel, staff is so friendly and helpful. They booked us a great driver to see some extra temples! Rooms were clean, nothing fancy (but as expected in Egypt). Perfect location from the ferries on the West Bank. Lovely rooftop restaurant/seating area. We had the breakfast and was just what we needed
Our stay in the Old Nile Hotel was really great. It's a nice and quiet place and Mostafa the owner is the most welcoming host. He can give you great advice on Luxor and surroundings or even book excursions for you if you want.
Also we had the most delicious egyptian food in all our trip !
- location is super great!!! in front of Luxor Temple and around a local market
- breakfast was super great with the buffet
- restaurant is yet the best restaurant that we have had during our trip across the whole Egypt
- staff was super helpful and friendly - and I mean this :)
The property and room are extremely clean and well kept. Laundry service was very fast and much needed for us as we were in our second city and 10th day in Egypt. The area the hotel is located in is occupied by locals which we loved and the view from the balcony was incredible.
I planned a trip to Egypt for a group of 11 admit I was wary on our drive to the hotel through dirt streets and no sign of civilization. Upon arrival, we were relieved to find this hospitable oasis. The breakfast and dinner were fabulous. we loved the chicken with peanut sauce.
Absolutely gorgeous building and grounds located on the Nile. This place is like a dream. The rooms I booked looked like a fairytale bought to life. Wish I stayed longer. Wouldn't even consider looking at another hotel in Luxor if I ever return to Egypt.
it was a lovely hotel. The staff was great and very accommodating. Our waiter arranged a very special Egyptian dinner for us outside overlooking the Nile and Valley of the Kings. it was a very memorable night.
It’s perfect for family traveling to Luxor.
The room had several beds and two televisions. The pool looked inviting and breakfast was nice. Good security and it has an atm machine for getting Egyptian Pounds.
Very peaceful hotel just outside Luxor city center, just next to Nilo river. Huge and tasty breakfast everyday, nice pool areas, nice staff. Wifi was great for egyptian standards. Super comfy rooms!
The hotel is amazing from location and view but what makes it the top choice for not only Aswan but Egypt is the staff. They go above and beyond to make your experience magical.
