We booked the property as we were going for a show at the Stag and Hunter which is about 70 metres from the hotel. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The price was fantastic, I would happily stay here again.

I live in Sydney, just 160 km / 100 miles to the South, so not exactly a traveller. Newcastle is a nice place, less frantic than Sydney. It has great beaches, lots of places to dine out suiting all budgets, a very pleasant foreshore area.

Newie has come along in leaps and bounds since my childhood in the city. The downtown area has been completely rejuvenated and has a great, hipster vibe to it that was sorely lacking in the past.
The best beaches in Australia, the best rugby league and A-League team, and world-class wineries on your back step.

As we were stuck in Newcastle and in the hospital for the majority of the three weeks we were there, I couldn't get out quick enough....but in the time that I did have spare to look around, if you get away from the industrial areas, there are many areas around the beach in Newcastle that are beautiful. If you get out towards the Hunter Valley, Warner's Bay or Nelson Bay even better.

Newcastle is a busy port on one side and a beach holiday paradise on the other. There are several points of interest, such as the fort and the lighthouse. Good walking for the fit.
From the transport interchange, there is a useful, very regular, tram (bright red) out to points along the way to these sights. Tap on tap off with your credit card, if you don’t have the local Oyster Card. We found Rydges cafe and Queens Wharf good places to take refreshment whilst watching the ships passing to pick up coal. Newcastle is the largest coal exporting port in the world and watching them move with tugs in attendance is quite relaxing while you enjoy a drink.
The museum gives a good overview of Newcastle’s development, without being too exhaustive. Entrance is free. Give it a go, as it’s next to the Information Centre who are very helpful.
From Queens Wharf there is a short ferry across to Stockton, a small town with a good view of the harbour and shipping from its local park. Take your water and sun hat but toilets are a bit thin on the ground.
I would have liked more time to explore and take photographs. Enough said!

Newcastle was great for a visit and not just because family live there. Great vibe, many cafes and shops, really nice to stroll around the town and get a feel for the place. The river waterfront was really pleasant after a hot day.

Newcastle offers some great activities.
Newcastle offers some great activities. Great beaches, the recently renovated city baths, the Bogey Hole convict dug swimming pool on the cliff edge, Fort Scratchley, Nobbys
Head and lighthouse, Newcastle Memorial Walk, museums and galleries, fabulous cafes, National Parks and weekend markets. So much to do nearby.
The whole experience of the Kingsley was exceptional. It was unique in its decor, room layout and extras such as toileteries. There were small touches that allowed for a greener experience. Everything in the room had a place, sensor lighting etc were little touches that demonstrated thought, rather than just generating another carbon copy hotel.
Excellent location close to everything that Newcastle has to offer.
The rooms, although small, are comfortable with very luxurious beds.
There is a guest laundry on level 2 with large washers and dryers that cost $3 each per load.
There is barista coffee available at reception.
The hotel has a 24 hour reception.
Great location, approx 10-15mins from Newcastle beach. Plenty of amenities around hotel, eg cafes + iga.
Pool was amazing- perfect for my little children.
Great dining options, as hotel in connected to Wests Leagues club with fantastic variety of food outlets.
My superior room was spacious and bright. The other had a massive bathroom.
Conveniently above a restaurant/bar. Shared irons/boards available on each floor.
The hotel is in one of the nicer areas of Newcastle, with the light rail and beach across the road.
Kitchen well equipped- all was very clean and sparkling- facities were very good and the room itself was very spacious for a studio apartment- hotel well situated in centre business area of Newcastle close to convenience stores and public transport
This location was fabulous! Little National Hotel Newcastle was newly opened when we stayed. Our 1 bedroom studio apartment was awesome. Electronic/computerized lighting, blinds, and curtains. The bed was amazingly comfortable!
Location is next to Darby Street, which is where its all happening in Newcastle. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bed was bigger and more comfortable than expected. Great value for money.
Great hotel right next to the Light Rail which services East Newcastle; with views of parks and river and in an Old Town area which is now tastefully renewed. Excellent restaurants and galleries.
Room size is very generous and beds were very comfortable
We live rurally and drive to Newcastle airport to fly from, we will be using this hotel from now on as our airport hotel. Its Great
The hotel is just so awesome! It's stylish, fresh and contemporary. The room decor is absolutely stunning. The bed was really comfortable and breakfast was super delicious and good value.
Reasonably priced, communication with the facility was good, but I am not a fan of the contactless check-in process. Beds were OK. Room contained everything needed.
The communication from the staff. Our book apartment had an issue, so alternate accomodation was arranged, that was actually closer to our destination in Newcastle.
