It's an ugly city.
It's an ugly city. So many buildings are old and dirty, reminding me of the old communist Yugoslavia. There are many tags everywhere. I saw some new constructions and visited houseboat restaurants on Sava, which were nice. Young people and night ambience are wonderful.

Not the prettiest or most exciting city I've ever been to. The locals are friendly and I really enjoyed the traditional food. You can pretty much walk everywhere which is very handy. Beware that nearly everyone smokes, including in cafes and restaurants. There are almost zero non-smoking locations. The inside part of the cafe at Moskva Hotel was the only place I found to sit smoke-free. Thankfully they also do great cakes there.

Belgrade is a city with many contrasts. You can find modern and historical parts of the city. There are many restaurants and cafeterias with very tasty and quality food. This cultural and culinary diversity and the additional flavor of pleasant people make this city a charming place to stay for more than 4-5 days. On top of all this, a good night's fun, so whoever likes it, go for it!

Unfortunately we had decided to book the cheaper room, which meant, that we got a big, clean but souterrain room. We regretted not paying a little more for a room on a higher level.

Fantastic Serbian family restaurant with take away option located just 100m from you, shopping centers 10 minutes away by walk. The airport is half an hour away by taxi (less than 20 euros). It is not a city center, but the location is quiet and safe. The small local supermarket in the corner, one minute away, is an advantage as well.
