The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown
As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Stunning Taormina, full of heartbreaking corners and history. Our enthusiasm had to face the reality of a pricy place. Disappointment in meeting insisting members of staff from the hospitality field, who sometimes looked desperately in need of customers for their restaurants, bars, boat trips. Etc..Parking is very expensive but we appreciated the free shuttle service to the city center.

Taormina has beautiful views with pretty venitian buildings, very historical. The food is delicious, as it's a prime tourist location the price of dining out does reflect this. The service in restaurants is good, I found staff to be friendly. The bus station at Interbus terminal is in easy walking distance and it's a short bus ride to Giuardini Naxos beach which is sandy. Waiting times for buses can be long if you miss the bus. Cost of one way ticket for 3 people just under 6 euros. The cost of the journey on bus from Taormina to Catania airport is cheap, 21 Euros for 3 people. Cost of a taxi from the airport to Taormina is a bit expensive at 100 euros, but you can get the interbus which is a cheaper option but will take longer. Our journey by Taxi to Valentina B&B was around 1 hour and was arranged by the lovely lost Loredana at Valentina B&B. Our driver Giuseppe was polite , friendly and provided lots of tips about the location and places to eat etc. Try the paste marandela Sicilian cookies, almond flavour is delicious, also the Arancini, a good savoury snack filled with rice with different fillings. Try the tomato & veg one, delicious.Lucios restaurant was fantastic, staff friendly. And Di foesteria, opposite Valentina B&B where you can have breakfast or brunch, very good quality and nice staff.

The apartment was close to all amenities and the Bus station is a 10 minute walk. The apartment is beautifully set up and has a washing machine which was a great help. It provided enough coffee and biscuits for our stay. At night there is no noise from the main street and the bed was super comfortable. Overall it was perfect for our stay and great value for money. Many thanks to Isabella our host.

The town is bustling with activities, lots of sites to see, super selection of eateries ( had dinner at Lucchio’s. along the Main Street. Live street music that brought such an abundance of joy and happiness to the evening at dinner! A abundance of historic sites to take in when wandering through the town. Maps and information about where to go and see the Roman ruins easy to follow. Plus a great selection of shopping opportunities with unique gifts at your fingertips!

An interesting and intriguing city through the stories and symbols that surround it. A lot to go up and down, so you need comfortable shoes and some physical condition, many interesting points of attraction full of history, interesting places, but the prices seemed a bit high for the month of March. All in all, it's a place worth seeing and exploring.

Taormina is so pittoresque and beautiful!
Taormina is so pittoresque and beautiful! A view of all the italian cliches that you can think of! It has it all: great views of the sea and the Etna Volcano, beautiful beaches, orange trees all over the place and last but not least, awesome food! Sicilian have different types of food and I especially enjoyed arancini and the sweets! Overall, it has a really great vibe!
Friendly staff, 24-7 concierge service, parking, great location - near Taormina cable car and with private beach
The breakfast versatility was quite limited , yet the dining terrace was amazing. We also enjoyed the restaurant evening meals - good quality and moderate pricing
We left the hotel before breakfast and got some early food packages prepared specially for us.
The wooden furniture and room design patterns date back to early 1970s, but as everything in Italy - it has the style and good vibes
The entire stay was miserable. From the check in to stepping into the tiniest, pest invaded dirtiest room. Phones not working nor Wi-Fi. In general No requests could be accommodated , from a simple breakfast order to cleaning the room to fixing the phone. The pictures online definitely gives it more credit then in REal life. The staff was not friendly in solving any issues nor showed any interest in resolving any of my concerns. Worst “5 star” service and hotel ever visited.
We loved the location! It's in the centre of Taormina. There is a restaurant next to the apartment so throughout the day and evening there is a quite lot of noise, but this can be excepted while staying in the centre of a busy town of course.
If you are staying here longer, the hotel organises trips to go to the beach (with a shuttle and back with rental of bed) for a good price. It was nice to be able to cook for ourselves.
Good airconditioning and clean towels included.
This was a clean, comfortable hotel in Taormina, close to the Corso Umberto. The hotel staff were very attentive and helpful in every way. Upon arrival, they sat down with us and offered suggestions for tours and activities they could arrange for us. Any time we needed a taxi or dinner reservations, they set them up for us.
Our room had a large terrace overlooking the sea, the views were beautiful.
Fabulous hotel near the sea between Taormina and Naxos! Our rom was much bigger than we expected and had a large balcony. The pool was also big and had great views. The breakfast was great. Free outdoor parking available near the property. It’s about 20 mins’ walk steep uphill to the centre of Taormina but the views on the way are beautiful. Would definitely recommend this place!
On booking in we were warmly welcomed, shown around & taken to our room. The terrace is sublime, lovely relaxing seating areas. Breakfast had everything you could want. A short walk down steps or gentle slope & we arrived at the very centre of Taormina. Beautiful hotel. Definitely stay again !!
Location was perfecto! 10 mins walk to the city centre and the views are the best in all Taormina. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the beach was fantastic and the pool too was great to relax after exploring the city. I would definitely recommend hotel Mediterranee!
Fantastic boutique hotel in Taormina. We arrived during a heavy storm and the staff went out of their way to set us up for the night. Beautiful room on a high cliff overlooking Taormina. Great Breakfast. Will happily stay in this hotel if we ever find ourselves in Taormina again.
The hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Rooms were clean and bathroom was spacious, clean and had everything you’d ever need. We had a big balcony overlooking Taormina and the water which was so nice. I could have stayed longer. The breakfast was also an added bonus!
The view from pool and breakfast area and the private beach were absolutely exceptional and amazing. This luxury stay is definitely a special stop when visiting Taormina. You don’t want to leave the hotel. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable.
Hotel is very comfortable with a good breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Wonderful views. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is short 5 minute walk to main area although on an incline on way back. Taormina was lovely.
Stunning views from the terrace and a short walk to Corso Umberto. All stairs, but that's Taormina! Our second stay here! A family run hotel, staff is friendly and cheerful. Cynthia was wonderful! My kind of place.
The staff are so friendly and accommodating— Mario and Francesco made us feel so welcome. A gorgeous and tasteful hotel. 5-min walk to Taormina city centre and from cable car down.
