We love everything about Venice.
We love everything about Venice. But, Venice (Venice Center) is not advisable to tourists who have mobility issues because everything in the city center is only accessible by walking. Once you get dropped off the port, there are no taxis if one get tired:). But, we were able to navigate slowly and enjoyed our one week vacation.

2nd time visiting Venice but 1st time actually staying in Venice which made all the difference. We were able to get straight onto the streets of Venice in the mornings without having to catch public transport. Lots to do and see in Venice, steeped in history with incredible buildings to visit.

It is a great historic city.
It is a great historic city. Still, it hasn't lost its spirit. I like it off-season when there aren't as many tourists. Major attraction points such as San Marco and its vicinity, Rialto are overcrowded and touristified even during the off-season, which is understandable for a city like Venice. But the city must take precautions for over-tourism and not lose its indigenous populations due to tourism takeover.
Street vendors selling low-quality souvenirs in Piazza San Marco were disturbing the integrity of the Piazza. They should be removed.

I have stayed for 4 nights.
I have stayed for 4 nights. I think, it is an ideal time for Venice to soak in the atmosphere. I was staying at Locanda Silva Hotel just around the corner from Colombina Hotel. It is located just 5mins from San Marco Square, the very heart of Venice. I purchased a 3-day ticket for all means of transportation in Venice, 45.00 EUR, but only 1 ride by water bus costs 10.00 Eur. Don't book any attractions before arriving in Venice. There are locations with combined offers around San Marco Square, which are cheaper than online, such as City Pass, Gondola ride/Walking Guided Tour. Cheapest gondola ride for 1 person is 36.00 Eur/30mins sharing it with other people and available at local travel offices around San Marco Square. Pizza/Pasta around San Marco is 10.00 Eur. Enjoy your stay.

Loved almost everything about Venice.
Loved almost everything about Venice. I visisted mid March and it was quite busy. I would imagine Mid summer would be extremely busy with tourists. Locals are very frendly and helpful. Your use of basic simple words and phrases in Italian is welcome and appreciated.
It was a nice size for a family of 4 in a very convenient location in Venice. There was a supermarket (Coop)very nearby. Lucia was excellent at communicating with us and gave us helpful directions and suggestions for places around Venice. This apartment was a great place to stay. Our family enjoyed it very much. The kitchen supplies and washing machine were helpful.
A note: set up a WhatsApp acct. to communicate with properties in Italy bc booking.com doesn’t seem to be a reliable way to communicate.
Everything about this hotel was fantastic- the Location, the communication (especially Alessio at the reception goes out of his way to help with advice about best places to see in Venice and best ways to get there - thanks a million!). Food at the restaurant was delicious. Staff at the Restaurant were always attentive, friendly and helpful. Best Bellini I had in Italy. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for making our stay so pleasant!
The property is excellent! The view is so amazing that it was hard to leave the apartment to sight see. It is centrally located. It is also a historic location and very cool to stay is the same place Marco Polo grew up in.
The host Claudia made the stay extra special. When planning for this trip to Italy, I was not interested in visiting Venice. Now I am planning my next trip to Venice to stay at this property thanks to Claudia and her family.
The facilities were immaculately clean, the staff was extremely helpful, the location was excellent, and the AC was the best we had in all of Italy!
And as a bonus point, we are observant Jews and not only was the hotel just 5 minute walk from the Jewish ghetto, they knew everything about staying at a hotel over the sabbath (physical keys, side entrance door that doesn’t open automatically etc.) which made things that much easier. 5 stars!
Our favorite apt from our trip to Italy. Great quiet, safe, location walking distance to all the sites. Full apartment with traditional furnishings, ac in each room, full kitchen and laundry facilities. We loved it and felt like we were temporary residents of Venice instead of tourists. Helpful host with clear instructions for entering apartment. Safe area with restaurants nearby and convenient to water busses.
The hotel was beautiful with a great location. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We were surprised with a free upgrade to the Royal Suite. The room was simply amazing. The breakfast was also fantastic. They also set up a water taxi service to take us to the airport at check out. We would stay at the Dona' Palace over and over. It was the perfect place to end our 30th Anniversary celebration in Italy.
Location is everything in Venice. It is right on a canal for water taxi access, within easy walking distance to all the sites, beautiful views, and great restaurants. We loved it 10 years ago and it’s even better now, having been completely renovated. Very good breakfast. Best staff. Take a water taxi to/from the airport or train station; it might be the most wonderful thing you do in Italy — besides eating 😉.
The location was great! Close to St Mark's, lots of shops and places to eat! We even had a view of a canal and could see gondolas go by. The room was very nice and the bed was quite comfortable. The room was a nice size compared to other places we have stayed during our trip through Italy. It was also very clean! I highly recommend it
! If we ever get back Venice, we will stay there again!
Very nice and quiet location. Ideal for exploring Venice and jumping into the life of a local. A true Venetian neighbourhood.
The owners are lucky to have such a host like Fabio in the Locanda. He makes your stay feel like home. Open for any questions and giving advice. Because of him and the personal touch this was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences in Italy for us.
Location is excellent, just a few minutes from Rialto. Communication with a host was very efficient, he gave good tips on Venice. The apartment is clean, has wonderful rooftop view, lots of daylight in the rooms, good beds. We travelled around Italy and this was the best apartment we had.
This is a very charming hotel in a 15th century house, with a lot of style and typical decoration. The staff is remarkably gentle and the breakfast is the best one we had so far in Italy. A great place that I warmly recommend!
First time in Venice.. The best location I could think of. The hotel itself was a boutique like, very cosy, quiet and clean. And above all this, the staff was extremely kind an friendly. Definitely recommended for couple.
This boutique hotel is amazing! We visited Venice many times, this is the best experience by far! very attentive service, family suite room is specious and warm (in December). also highly recommend the restaurant on site
the breakfast was great, everything you need is given, Really the best one we had in Italy
the rooms are very clean
we can absolutely recommend the hotel
the station for the vaparetto is directly in front of the hotel
I traveled with my daughter, the Monte Carlo was our favorite hotel during our entire Italy trip, the room was spacious, the bed was comfy, the staff was wonderful, and the breakfast and coffee was delicious!
Great central location and close to the Biennale (Giardini and Arsenale). Beautiful rooms, bar, lounge and breakfast room. Spectacular garden area behind the hotel. The best breakfast in Italy!
The location was great. The hotel was super clean. I would highly recommend this hotel. The service / staff was superb. Hands down best hotel in Venice italy.
- Great location
- Renovated bathroom
- very friendly staff
While the interior might be outdated, this might be the best hotel in Italy I have stayed in
