I remember when I first visited 9 years ago it seemed like a much more new, vibrant city. Might have been my younger self rather than the city but the city felt very old (not in the cool, good way) when we went this time. The pre-Colombian museum is a must visit, but other than that I wouldn’t really go back. The food scene was okay too, aside from some great spots. Other international cities I’ve been to have left me overwhelmed with options, this city did not. Also, we really wanted to take a wine tour but the prices were insanely expensive to go just an hour outside the city and operators I contacted were not responsive.

Santiago feels similar to any other major city that you would visit. It lacked the unique charm that we found on the coast in Viña del Mar.
Perhaps we didn’t stay in the right neighborhood (stayed close to the central government buildings), and the city streets cleared out by sundown—making the city feel kinda empty.
EXCELLENT museums though!

The city is crowded in the Centro area of Plaza de Armas, but that provided a lot of interesting attractions. We preferred to wander by foot instead of taxi for bus therefore we saw a lot. Be aware that the area business area closed for SIESTA. Some restaurants closed right after the lunch crowd until the next day, therefore the area are really quiet after 6 pm. Be spending time to visit the Santa Lucia Hill (a lot of uphill steps) and the Central Market where there are a lot of restaurants inside and outside. A must to linger about the street vendors with their merchandises displayed on the streets (which are everywhere in Santiago). Must visit two churches and two museums in the Plaza area (advice: the churches are perfect place to rest). Temperature was 60 to 75 in mid March 2024.

Lots of great things to do and see in Santiago.
Lots of great things to do and see in Santiago. Would recommend the pre -Colombian museum and the Memory museum. The Bellas Artes is a lovely building too.
Take the cable car or funicular to the top of Cerro San Cristobal and enjoy the views of the city - there is a huge outdoor pool halfway up so get off at that stop and enjoy a swim!
The Cerro Santa Lucia is slap bang in the middle of the city and is lovely.
Easy to get around by bus and metro.
lots of cool bars and good restaurants
The huge Bio Bio market on a weekend is worth a visit - food, antiques, plants, art - everything really

We saw the 3 top things that Trip advisor recommended.
We saw the 3 top things that Trip advisor recommended. Very glad we did those in 2 days. I would have liked to have spent more time in different barrios. We had our 20 year old daughter with us who can look 15 years old. We were warned 3 times by different people to watch her closely. We were in the tourist areas. It really freaked my husband and I out.
We usually rent a car on vacation. We decided to take Ubers. First time using Uber and would do that again in a heartbeat. It would have been very stressful to drive ourselves in Santiago.
Santiago is a beautiful, busy city. We stayed in Barrio Providencia. Very safe, I could live there:). Beautiful parks to walk in.

Full of Poverty's and faggarts and domestic delinquents and linked terrorists something about FPMR and MIR and corrupt cops.
But all easy at fight retail.
Only law troubles of false witnesses or false chargers.
But easy to handle.
I loved my room with very comfortable large bed and huge window looking at trees. Breakfast options were great- hot options in addition to pastries and fresh fruit. Both of the meals I ate at the restaurant were delicious and the service was great.
EVERYONE working there was professional, kind, helpful, and attentive. Despite my limited Spanish, communication was fine. Daniel’s level of English was particularly helpful….. especially when I called in advance to have the hotel help arrange taxi service for me from the airport late at night.
Excellent boutique hotel in the centre of Santiago, loads of restaurants & coffee shops in walking distance to Lastarria. Welcoming team & efficient check in. Small well appointed super clean room & comfortable bed. Coffee pod machine a bonus & balcony looking over the park. Great breakfast options. Rooftop pool with views up to San Cristobal Hill. Highly recommend this hotel!
Location is excellent if you’re planning to continue your trip as the hotel is right across from domestic terminal at Santiago Airport, so you can easily reach it on foot. Rooms are nice and spacious, breakfast buffet is quite good, and I have only the best to say about hotel staff I came into contact with.
Overall, the hotel is pricy, but worth it if you’re traveling on.
The place is well located in terms of attractions but it is in downtown Santiago which means that it can be a little rough. One has to be very careful with one's belongings. The hotel has good security so that was comforting. In terms of eating, there are lots of options nearby and local attractions are within walking distance.
The location is actually great, very close to city center. The reason I didn't give max points is the street that is dirty and has many ruined buildings, even by Santiago standards, but that is honestly not the hotel's fault.
It is also silent too, one can sleep with windows open.
Also, cheap :) Staff is friendly too.
The room was very clean, light and bright and large enough. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was more than enough. The hotel is close to the airport, so it is an overnight place when you have to leave early in the morning. They have a shuttle between the hotel and the airport, which make it very convenient.
This is a great property particularly for a first time visitor to Santiago. It is about 1 block from a major metro line (Santiago has an excellent, cheap metro system) in an upscale part of town. The 2 best features are the rooftop view and the excellent staff. Great hotel experience.
Ideal location for our late arrival and early departure flights. Hotel's garden made you forget the airport location, and was a nice place for a drink. Staff helpful with taxis for visits to attractions in Santiago. Menu had good choice of meals, including seafood.
My family and I were in transit to Easter Island. Very modern, comfortable and clean hotel. Good breakfast with a lot of options. Close to airport and with an efficient free shuttle to and from airport, which is ideal for connecting flights.
An old house recently converted into hotel. Excellent price located conveniently in barrio yungay between downtown and parque quinta normal. Nice space, friendly staff, charming esthetic, good price, the place has a lot going for it.
I loved this beautiful boutique hotel, housed in a century-old, renovated building in a beautiful part of central Santiago. The staff were very welcoming and gave my partner and I a lovely little tour of the place when we arrived.
Location was great. Easy transfer from the airport arranged through the hotel. Walking distance to all the attractions. Restaurants were 3 blocks away. Private security patrolling the area. I felt very safe.
One night stop close to airport, a bit of a mixed experience. The hotel was good with the free transfer from the airport, check in was fast and pool area nice to stay. Room was clean and nice beds
Comfortable, surprisingly good food in the restaurant, functional gym which I used, and very quiet despite being busy. Much better than other airport hotels we have used in Santiago.
Breakfast and facilities are perfect for a relaxed stay in Santiago. Hotel is very well located. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Shower is the best one I had in South America
Excellent value for a decent Best Western. Twins beds were wider than at other hotels. Breakfast was more than adequate. Subway station is very close. Easy to get downtown.
