Travelers who stayed in Rio de Janeiro near Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (GIG) have said good things about Linx Galeão, Capri Hotel, and Matiz Multi Suites.
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘ Marvelous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

Rio is a great place to study for example at the PUC University in Ipanema or at the UFF in Niteroi. Perfect place to practice sports and meet friendly people! Highly recommend to explore Rio by bike, also surfing in Ipanema is great, not to forget paragliding and sailing. Would love to play football or volleyball at the beach with locals next time and visit the Museum of Modern Art. You might enjoy the pubs, salsa bars and live music in Santa Teresa and Lapa - I have joined a group, felt safe and comfortable. Beautiful beaches and exotic nature.

We arrived for final night at the Sambadrome, with about 70,000 people, and it was so amazing and wonderful! We felt safe the whole 2-1/2 weeks in Rio and also when we flew north to Salvador. We loved Rio. Cariocas are friendly and they like to have a good time. We liked the beaches, the scenery, the food, the prices (coming from the very expensive American northeast) and the pace!

Rio is just amazing.
Rio is just amazing. Taking usual travelers' precautions, with an extra care on where your belongings are when you're walking in crowds, then you're safe. Food is great and people are lovely. Recommended to learn basic portuguese or even a bit of spanish before you go, so you can have a more pleasant experience. Sort out your roaming or phone before you go there (e-sims are life-saving but make sure your phone is compatible). Jesus is incredible as expected, and recommended to visit as early in the day as possible. I'm going again for sure.

Dull stained concrete buildings

Very few modern buildings
The hotel met all my expectations great location very safe, in the middle of Copacabana beach, with plenty of restaurants choices, behind the hotel there is lots of local stores for shopping. Breakfast is excellent it has a complete buffet for both Brazilian and American taste (yes they have pancakes, bacon and omelets). Room was very spacious, I had a room for 3 people with king size and twin size bed all beds were very comfortable (American standard). Staff was great always ready to help.
The location is incredible. Just a few streets and you're in the middle of copacabana beach walking its famous "Calçadão". There are lots of services around the corner from pharmacies to small snack bars - the closer to the beach the more refined it gets.
The metro is right in front of the entrance of the hotel - so it's quite easy to leave your stuff af the hotel and go to Lapa/Cinelandia or meet friends around the southern area of Rio, in botafogo, flamengo or ipanema.
superb location, lovely hotel, always so clean! the staff was kind and helpful - from the check-in, to the waiters in the restaurant, to the cleaning lady - they were all willing to help. the breakfast is great, huge variety compared to other hotels, fresh fruits, warm bread and constant supply of fine coffee. the room was spacious and clean, we upgraded to get the view of the copacabana and it was great!! it was lovely waking up to the views of the beach every morning.
Staff was very helpful, friendly and always smily, they helped us a lot with different tours & sightseeings and other staff, so special thanks to them! 😍 Location was just perfect - we were in the heart of Copacabana and felt very safe and comfortable. The price we’ve paid for accommodation was reasonable in the end considering the location where only fence hotels are located. The rooms are spacious and light, what makes the stay quite comfortable.
Andreas has to be the best host ever. He was really friendly and he went out of his to help us.
We really like the location, the place has a nice view of Christ the Redeemer and it is short walking distance to Sugarloaf mountain; there's also a mall (Rio Sul) nearby with a Havaianas store, and short Uber ride to Copacabana, Ipanema and Lapa.
In general we had absolutely no problem here and would come back in a heartbeat.
The location is unbeatable. It literally is a 3-minute walk from Leblon Beach (nicer than Copacabana and Ipanema). There are many amazing restaurants to choose from nearby. It has a really vibrant atmosphere and it felt safe to walk around. Linda is an amazing hostess - helpful, passionate, welcoming. We felt like we got to be part of her life for the five nights we spent in her home. And she has a really cute cat!!!
Location of the hotel is perfect. Just between Ipanema and Copacabana. 10min walking to the beach. In the hotel they have decent breakfast included. It’s quite area and mostly safe. Around the hotel is everything: markets, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, laundry,… It’s goos for a sleepover. Staff is quite friendly but they don’t know how to solve issues. Shower is spacious and bed is comfortable. Rooms have no view.
Amazing price for the location (Copacabana Beach was a 5 minute walk), the room was clean, and the staff are friendly. There’s even a security guard by the front door/lobby so we always felt safe coming and going from the hotel. A front desk staff even went above and beyond by doing research and printing out the info for us when we were trying to buy tickets to a soccer game at the Maracanã Stadium!
Everything was perfect! Marcia was an excellent hostess and made me feel right at home for my first visit to Rio! The staff was very friendly and any questions or concerns I had during my trip Marcia answered with the utmost speed and professionalism via whatsapp. The property is conveniently located next to bars, fine dining, shops, all the hotels on Copacabana and tours. Excellent!!
Best Hotel on Copacabana! The Morning breakfast buffet is spectacular with the best staff in Rio! Perfect location on the beach and very helpful and friendly dedicated beach staff to PortoBay! Our room had a wonderful view and the hotel made perfect arrangements for all our our tours and adventures! Can't wait to return! Thank you so much for such a fabulous experience.
The hotel staff was excellent. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The were not many English speaking TV channels and all of the channels were not available. The breakfast was good and the juices were excellent (fresh squeezed). The hotel was close to the MERTO. The Premier Copacabana Hotel afforded me an excellent stay and I would return.
The room was a really good size, the breakfast was great and the pool is lovely! All the staff were so friendly and was the perfect base for a trip to Rio. Staying in Lapa was a great choice for us and I think it helped us explore a different side to Rio that we might not have seen if we'd just stayed in copacabana and Ipanema.
Hotel is decent and in a good area for accessing copacabana and ipanema beaches. Staff was very helpful especially Sylveon, made us feel very welcome and looked after, even showed us the pool after the checkout lol. Jokes aside it was a good service!
Everything in the hotel was according to expectations. The hotel staff was very friendly and always took care of our needs. The location is perfect, in front of Copacabana Beach and close to Ipanema, Leblon, restaurants and bars.
The location of the Orla hotel is perfect, on Copacabana beach and very close to Ipanema. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was good value for money over the carnival holiday.
Nice hotel with a big room and friendly staff. Located at the beginning of Copacabana, not far from Ipanema. The breakfast is good and offers a variety of food.
