I had two stays at this hotel, before and after a tour of the island. So, some of this is similar to my other review. Reservation and desk staff are helpful. The hotel location is good, "next door" to Woolworth's grocery and a short walk to the waterfront for restaurants.

FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

Hobart is a fantastic city with lots to offer everyone. Fantastic restaurants and local tourist attractions, the beautiful botanical gardens and Markets, are an absolute must for every visitor. I liked the cooler weather after living in Queensland and Nortern NSW for 60 years where it is too hot for me. I like the fact that lots of history has been preserved. I found there to be a shortage of eating venues, I couldn't find a nice, reasonably priced place for a good meal. The public transport is good but reality doesn't always agree with what is noted on the internet. I followed timetables but sometimes the bus didn't run any more eg Cornelian bay had most of its advertised services cancelled. I depend entirely on the buses or walking as I do not drive so the bus service is very important to me. I thoroughly enjoyed my 9 day stay in Hobart.

My 2nd time in Hobart. The last trip was a decade ago. Hobart gives a different vibe from the other cities in Australia. Tassies are very friendly & made me feel at ease. The city is very safe & I do not have any issues walking alone during the evening.

A picturesque city choc-a-bloc with elegant historic sandstone buildings. On Day 1 after the drive up Mt Wellington to take in the superb views, we visited the Cascades Female Factory, the Botanic Gardens and then strolled around Battery Point and dined at Salamanca Place. On Day 2 we enjoyed the scenic ferry ride to MONA and had a fabulous time there. (Bear in mind that it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.)

    Here's what.

Here's what. When I booked, I imagined that it would be a regular room with a space where I could have my suitcase and so on. I didn't imagine that it would be a cubicle. The idea of my 'room' is not applicable to this situation. This refers to the room, which I felt didn't allow me enough space to be specific. Hobart was wonderful. I should have booked tours I wanted to do immediately. I bought food mostly from businesses in the mall and Woolworths. I had cereal at the Wharf and a small bowl was AUD16. A tad bit expensive, I'd say. Getting around Hobart was really easy and I would return to Hobart for longer next time.

Loved our stay at Crowne Plaza Hobart! It's in the perfect location, close to shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is super clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedding is some of the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel and now I need to know the pillow brand so I can buy some! We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that the breakfast that was included in our rate was a full buffet breakfast with barista coffee rather than just continental breakfast as advertised. Would definitely stay here again!

The location is everything when describing this property. You are literally right above where Salamanca markets are held. There are heaps of dining and drinking options within a minutes walk. Art galleries, shops, CBD etc is only minutes away by walking. A few days earlier I had stayed in North Hobart and compared to that hotel, which was a 20 minute walk up/down a hill, the location of Galleria could not be topped. Highly recomment. The apartment was so spacious. Heaps of room for working, sleeping and playing!

Location was excellent with easy walking distances around Hobart and Salamanca markets. We had a two-bedroom apartment at Sullivans Cove, and this was spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly on both check in and departure. We loved having the heated towel rails in both bathrooms. Aircon kept apartment cozy and warm as still cold in Hobart at time of visit. Take up the offer of hotel paid parking space as worth having dedicated area to leave your car and parking in Hobart is expensive.

The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the heart of the Hobart CBD. It's within walking distance to great cafes, restaurants and shops. The vibe of the hotel is very 1950's glamour which i loved. Only thing is that it is an old hotel so you can hear every step the person in the room above you makes, but other then that it was a perfect stay.
