TRYP was a little bit more expensive than a regular motel or 2* but I was very impressed with my stay here. Firstly the location. 10min to Newark penn. close by to buses. Centrally located. If you don't mind the 30 min commute to New York Manhattan and can manage the confusing transit options, TRYP is definitely worth an option and you'll save a bit instead of staying in New York main stream. The facility was kept very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Not a lot of restaurant options in the area..but I loved both my stays here, one was in a smaller room and the other one was big. Definitely recommend.

When I spoke to the owner, I was told that there was no reservation and that they have stopped making reservations with Booking.com months ago, yet I received confirmation, very confusing and not professional I was left to find a last minute room!

Honestly, I find Newark to be sketchy and not super safe. I used to be a flight attendant based out of EWR 30 years ago and it hasn't changed. We went to the Prudential Center for a concert, so we were just in and out for one night. I wouldn't recommend vacationing here ever.

This hotel was perfect for an overnighter in Newark due to poor flight connections. The shuttle picked us up and delivered us back to the airport without a hitch. Wish the bar could have been open on our arrival but we didn't arrive till after midnight so recognize this is unrealistic. Room, beds, pillows were great. Morning breakfast buffet started promptly at 6 and was quite tasty.
This was my third time to stay this year in the hotel, I would have given a perfect score however the housekeeping change had whereby rooms are now only cleaned every second day was not communicated to us at check in, if we had been notified of this change it would have been a perfect score. Our room was cleaned when we requested it.
The breakfast choices were perfect as were the staff who were available there to assist us if needed.
The transfer to and from the airport is an added bonus.
Great location downtown. Well lit, Hotel parking as well as underground parking across the street;Facing Military Park, a clean & secure atmosphere with carousel on site..adjacent to PNC art center, Walking distance to Newark Penn station & Broad Street train stations, Loved the very hot water for my extended shower!!😘…Restaurant & bar on site, somewhat pricey for drinks, lots of food choices..I had a simple cheeseburger L&T and fries, which was really good, fresh.
We didn’t expect a lot and we were positively surprised. Hotel looks even better than on photos. Room was big enough for our 4. There is free transport to the airport. The staff is very friendly, we arrived a little bit earlier and there wasn’t any problem to check in earlier (ofc we were lucky because it depends on rooms availability, but it was great that man on the reception did it for us). Restaurant looks very nice, and the breakfast was very good.
- Shuttle bus picked us up from the airport train station free of charge, we just had to call them.
- The next morning we boked a shuttle to the airport for 6am. No worries at all, all free of charge.
- Sofa bed in the room was good. It meant the kids didn't have to share a bed
- The nearby Marriott hotel had hot food and cold beer, which was very welcome after a long day. It was just a couple of parking lots over, so we could walk there easily
Loved the hotel and staff friendliness. Was easy to commute to the Newark Penn station to go to NYC (Manhattan) as that was the main purpose of our visit. Room was great and food was good too. Only issue was that the location was not the best after dark but we always used Uber to get right in front of the hotel so it didn't affect us.
Near the airport and shuttle to and from Newark airport was a major convenience. If you are in transit alone or as a couple this hotel will work. Any thing more in terms of number of people or number of nights I would not consider it at all.
proximity to airport, so very good connectivity. Going to Penn Station in downtown NYC was quite a breeze, with a train station nearby to hotel, accessible by hotel shuttle and air train.
I was there for a concert so it's a walking distance from Prudential Center. Also, in front of the hotel is Newark Penn so it's easily accessible to go anywhere. Amazing staff.
The hotel is at walking distance from the Newark Broad Street Station with frequent trains to New York's Penn Station.
There are a number of fast food restaurants nearby.
Its a fine hotel, nothing not to like. Good noise isolation - the traffic and aircraft noise is blocked out well. There's a shuttle to the airport which is convenient.
The airport shuttle is very convenient. The Location as well of the hotel is near the airport and train station going to New York. You get more that what you paid.
NOTHING is a SHAME find hotel like Riviera Newark and pay € 120 / night
