great food (specially recommend the small family restaurants - like RIBEIRINHO with great homemade food, delicious house wine and olives - and tascas - like GAMBUZINOS) in every corner.
+ the CAA cultural center offers concerts, opera, theater and art exhibitions.
+ the biggest and the smallest santa claus in the world (guinnes book) from november till january.
+ great outdoors around the city. 1h20 of à pleasant walk through corn fields to reach ESPINHEL view of the PATEIRA DE FERMENTELOS - the biggest natural lake in iberic peninsula with great and specific fauna & flora (RIAS ecosystem).
+ don’t miss the PIGLET (with black pepper sauce), CHAUFANA (ham) and BORREGO (lamb) that are the typical meals of the region. and add for desert or coffee PASTEL DE ÁGUEDA or TORTA DE AGUEDA, both delicious pastries with almonds and ovos moles (yolk sweet cream). thumbs up for the local house wine.
+ the town is proud of the umbrellas decoration and the street art (graffiti) town commissioned, but i’ve my critics.

The city is very close to Porto and is worth seeing from July till September when the city is decorated due to Street Art festival. The oficial festival lasts 3 weeks ( July) which includes concets and other entertainings, concerts are free to visist. Till September people can enjoy the decorations. Not many places to stay at, so during the festival time it’s better to book something in advance.
It’s such a beautiful property up in the hills above Águeda. Access to a river beach. Each hut is its own little hideaway. The owners are just the sweetest. I wasn’t sure if I could get there without a car, and they arranged at first for a taxi to get me in Aveiro, and then when I said I could take the train, they had him get me in Águeda. They also took me out with them to a concert one night. I’ll definitely go back!
Old-fashioned hotel but really well looked-after. Great room with comfortable bed, lovely bedding and a view down into the valley (it would be worthwhile asking for a room at the back). Location on the main road out of Agueda, but that makes it calm. The included breakfast wasn't bad - the usual Portuguese hotel buffet breakfast, but with some touches like tomatoes that made it a little bit better.
Breakfast was perfect. The host was very kind and courteous. The checkin was simple and straight forward. Parking was free, therefore fantastic. Location was perfect for us and just a short walk to centre of city. July is a beautiful time to pass through Águeda as the city is in festival mode and great atmosphere. Lidl is very close for anything you might need. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
The receptionist, a young women sorry don’t have her name, was so friendly and helpful. We received a lovely welcome after walking all day.
Room comfortable, hotel in centre of town.
Breakfast wasn’t that relaxed as they insist on a server placing everything on your plate. This is really rather silly and has nothing to do with covid. Much better to allow people to help themselves.
Everything, superb apartment, best we have stayed in while in Portugal. Wonderful host tiaga was professional courteous and very helpful. We had the bonus of an upgrade with a beautiful view of the river. If you are planning to stay in agueda this is the place .
Wonderful hotel and staff. Guest kitchen and Albergue are nice. Breakfast room was very quaint and the breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee. Met several Camino travelers. Good facilities for storing our bicycles near the outdoor washing area.
Fantastic location for wandering the streets of Águeda, perfect for when the festivities are on. Easy parking on street outside.
Thought had been put into the hotel's details.
Breakfast 4 euros for coffee, roll, cheese, ham, fruit and cereal.
XPT is located in the heart of Águeda. The street it is located on has the umbrellas. My room had a balcony overlooking the umbrellas. There is a parking lot right next to the property in which you can park for FREE!
The Hotel receptionist was exceptional. have great advice and even organized take away lunches as the next day was Easter Sunday! All in all a great place to stay!
Good hotel, very clean and great location to walk to restaurants, shops, etc. Plus right at the Camino for those walking. The staff were very friendly.
