Vela Luka is an ex-industrial town on Korčula island. It is not as historic as the old town of Korčula (although there is an archaeological site from the Neolithic). It is more down to earth and does not try to be as upscale as the old town of Korčula which only strives for upscale tourists now. But Vela Luka is still close to super beaches and has shops and bars, that are much more pocket friendly than the old town of Korčula. Take a boat to nearby Proizd island or a taxi boat to the main beach. ... you will not be disappointed.

Loved the little balcony, loved the "city vibe" from the balcony! Also appreciated the fact that we were close to the town center, close to everything like shops, cafés, restaurants and supermarkets! The room was so comfy and most importantly CLEAN!

Quaint and authentic town with some lovely beaches nearby. Wasn't as lively as some other places I've visited in Croatia/felt a little like it has fallen on hard times, but we still really loved the community atmosphere. It was surprisingly difficult to get to from Dubrovnik as there is no direct ferry and the busses weren't running on Sundays

Excelent starting point for exploring beautiful Island of Korčula. Beaches are out od town but easy to reach by boat (regular lines) or car. Town is quite authentic and not overcrowded by tourists, with lot od restaurants and bars.

Its very different to Korcula town, it has great places to swim within walking distance of the town, has good value restaurants and accommodation, its not yet spoilt, lovely to mix with locals as seems to have more local holiday makers than overseas ones. Good cycling but not many places to refuel on hot days - so be warned, carry plenty of water with you! Don't expect pretty narrow streets and hustle and bustle - ( like in Hvar, Trogir and Korcula old town) but do expect a nice chilled time for a very reasonable price with welcoming locals.

Think one day would be ok.Would not get my recommendation. Better places in Croatia to go.The restaurants are very expensive ,compared to Korcula Town.Passed through some very nice villages on bus getting to Vela Luka
All in all had a good holiday,but felt a little disappoint with the island.Did not have the feel of the Croatia ,that I like.
The cleanest and most well-appointed apartment we have ever rented. Although it’s small, our family loved it. Great location for grabbing a water taxi into town where you’ll find restaurants, groceries, caffe/bars and anything else you want. There is a tortoise sanctuary in the yard - our kids loved this! But perhaps the best part of our stay were the hosts - it felt like we had met long-lost friends. They are the kindest, most helpful and friendliest hosts we have ever met and we would come back to Vela Luka just to see them again.
The location is excellent for anyone who loves peace and crystal clear sea. Far from the tourist bustle, about 9 km from Vela Luka. Given that it is necessary to buy food and necessities in Vela Luka, it is recommended to come by car. The hosts are extremely nice and warm people, they welcomed us like their own family. We enjoyed the fresh top quality fish that Marko had caught and grilled, and Vojmira made sure to feed us other local delicacies. All in all, for every recommendation, we believe that we will come back. :)

During the night it was calm and quite. Apartment is furnitured with everyrhing you'd need and is clean.
There is a terrace with barbecue and everything you need to start it. We had a short stay and unfortunatelly didn't have a chance for a barbecue.
There is a parking place available. We walked to the beach which is right below the apartment and to the city center (with cheap boat taxi from Poseidon hotel directly to center).
Beautiful rooms, had everything you needed! Close to lots of restaurants. They picked us up from the ferry in Vela Luka, and arranged our transfer across the island to the other port in Korcula Town for checkout at a really reasonable price. The breakfast included was at the restaurant downstairs which was so delicious, and when we had to check out early but had paid for breakfast, they arranged a packed lunch for us on the last day.
It was the best Holiday we ever had. Vela Luka is lovely small city with many restaurants, shops, very nice beaches and promenade. It is very good place to stay for 1 or 2 weeks. It is also a very good base to explore Korcula island. Apartament is very comfortable, very, very clean and nice. Our host Dragi was very kind and helpful. Everything was 100% ok and thank you again for a great holiday. We hope to see You next year :)
Our welcoming host Radmila was exceptionally friendly and kind with helpful tips, sweet surprises and she made our stay absolutely fabulous. Loved the morning view at Vela Luka harbour as well as the cosy evenings from the balcony. Liked the location of the apartment with the town in close vicinity. The apartment was very clean, spacious and modern.
The ACs were fantastic and made our stay very pleasant during the hot days.
This property is obviously brand new with very modern features. The room is chic, the bed large and comfortable and the bathroom very well appointed. All of it extremely clean and of a high end hotel caliber. The location can’t be beat though some late night revelry could be heard (we did not mind). We were given a parking pass for any town parking. Check in/out was easy and the people at the desk were very helpful.
Great location if you are looking for something peaceful. Beach is right by the house and the photos really do represent the place in real life. The city Vela Luka is about 7mins from the house, by car. Its not really possible to walk there. Hosts were super nice! The place is equiped with everything you need to cook with and there is a nice grill on the balcony. Amazing view.
Accommodations were exactly as pictured and described in other reviews-- a little dated, but clean and comfortable. The communal kitchen/living space was well stocked for cooking and was comfortable and accessible. The location was super central to the main strip of Vela Luka and a stone's throw from the ferry.
Fabulous location. Spotlessly clean with great facilities. Comfy bed and quiet location. The hosts are wonderful. Very helpful with local information and recommendations. Homemade marmalade, fresh figs and lavender bags. What's not to love. Would highly recommend and would definitely return to Vela Luka

Superb house just steps away from the sea with a private beach. A very private area with peace and quiet, but just a short walk to a nearby hotel.
Our kids enjoyed the pool, the trampoline, the fussbal table and the pool table. Lovely waking up to the sound of crickets in the morning.
The location is perfect, with a splendid view of the entire Vela Luka and the sea. We took full advantage of the bbq.
The streets are small and there is no parking place in front of the house. We park the car at a 10-15 minute walk to the apartment.
We loved the location, privacy and welcoming host. The host was caring above expected and truly nice. Also, the property is very clean. Excellent loaction for exploring Vela Luka town, all the konobas, Vela Spila and to visit Proizd island.
Overall, nice, comfortable hotel with a great pool area, sunny at all times of the day, with sufficient number of sunbeds for all guests. Great breakfast and terrace where you can admire sunsets over Vela Luka!
This is our second trip visiting Vela Luka and we would gladly repeat our trip. The place and host have exceeded our expectation in every possible way. We will definitely visit Apartments in Vela Luka again !
It is a lovely apartment in the center of Vela Luka, it is in a bit of a difficult access but other than that, it's in walking distance of at least 3 supermarkets and plenty of restaurants.
The apartment is nice and tidy and it is situated within a 5 minute walk from the very centre of Vela Luka. The host is super friendly and always available for any questions.
Lovely host, Radmila was amazing. Very kind and friendly. She is the best.
