Pola is a lively little town - a lot of cider bars, the local speciality, but not many places to eat (plus of course eating is a bit late!). There is one michelin rated (ie in the red guide) restaurant (Roble) which was interesting, inventive, local ingredients and not at all expensive by general European standards (110€ +/- for 2 including wine and water). Other restaurants a bit more local basic, but good fun, and spending more than 40€ for 2 would be difficult unless you have gargantuan appetites - the portions are enormous. Pola is very handy for the Urbiñas mountain range/natural park, lots of lovely and some quite challenging walks. And of course the town is on one of the Camino highways. The cathedral is interesting early 20th c. architecture, but otherwise there is not exactly and old quarter or anything. It is a really business/industrial place, but not at all touristy which is a relief!! Big shout out for the girl at the tourist office who is super helpful.
The hotel staff was very friendly! We didn't speak Spanish a lot so as the staff didn't speak English, despite of that the receptionist was always very helpful and tried to accommodate any of our questions. The room was very clean and spacious so as the bathroom. It had a small balcony with a nice view. Just the highway was a bit loud even though the accommodation is very far from it.
Breakfast was not an option . Staff very welcoming and assisted in the limited parking at the hotel. Stayed one night .The location was superb as we had planned to see La Vuelta Espanha stage 17 up to L'Angliru and it was perfect to see from the hotel terrace close to the road. Hopefully the hotel will enjoy our video.
This is a spacious apartment with a good sized separate kitchen and large bedroom living room. It's got a really homely feeling with quite quirky decor. Milk coffee and biscuits had been left which were much appreciated. Pola de Lena was a good centre for three days mountain walking.
The lady who runs this little hotel couldn’t be nicer. She was so welcoming and helpful.
The room is clean, has a nice bathroom and is definitely worth the low price paid. Bars and restaurants nearby. Big supermarket a 10 minute walk away.
This was a cheap, clean , comfortable and friendly "pension" type hotel. For us it was just what we needed after cycling. It's good score is given on that basis. Obviously can't compare the same scoring as for an expensive luxury hotel.
Lovely hotel and rooms. Attached restaurant very good too, though it closed the kitchen at 5pm (possibly due to a power cut in the region).
Has good garage for bikes.
Evidently a centre for cycling in the region.
Chose this property due to a closed Hostal/Albergue…. glad I did as there are difficult day on the Salvador Camino and this hotel recharged my batteries. Great price and close to everything you need.
Hotel lies in a small nice village in the inland of Spain, next to Ubinas de Mesa mountains. Although the hostess did not speak English she did her best to help us.
