The location is great, near the Camino, and the restaurant had everything we needed to fuel up for the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful, too. We were also able to check in at the electronic kiosk outside of the building during siesta hours.
Set in the heart of this seaside town, this Galician mansion has been beautifully converted into a hotel while still maintaining its original charm. Enjoy views from the stunning glassed balcony.

Finca dos Mares is truly a gem. It has an environment of relaxed elegance and service that is provided with seeming effortless ease. Host Fernando is completely committed to the comfort and well being of his guests, and staff are attentive and responsive. It had everything I was looking for in my 3-day stay and more. I cannot recommend this place more highly. It is not often you come across a place that has it all, but Finca dos Mares really does!

A small town of about 65,000 with a long history of being a major naval and ship building center. It is coastal with many beautiful estuaries. The weather is wonderful with summer highs of mid to upper 70s often with a breeze and winters with day time temps of mid 40s to low 50s. Winter is also the rainy season with rain 10-15 days a month. Add in a breeze off the water and one can experience wet, windy cold winter weather. There are several churches and other structures from the 1700s. Farroll is famous for their glass fronted "galleries" apartment buildings copied after the glass galleries of old pirate ships. Complete with intricate wrought iron railings, these glass fronted buildings are works of art and line both sides of the several pedestrian streets in the town center. During the two weeks we stayed in Ferroll we fell in love with the town and its people and bought a holiday house! Everyone we met was super friendly and helpful. The town is safe to walk in even late at night , is blessed with many parks and dozens of sidewalk cafes. Most visitors come for the wonderful beaches but we are not beach people.

Lovely town to really get the Spanish vibe.
Lovely town to really get the Spanish vibe. Very few tourists in the area.
Have been to Ferrol on a couple of occasions and really like it. People are very helpful. Have small speciality shops and tons of cafes and restaurants.
It’s a very easy place to walk around with a beautiful boardwalk down by the beach. Lots supermarkets. The apartment we booked was lovely and great kitchen for cooking. Easy to get buses to other communities. Train and bus station were within walking distance. Weather was really nice for April month.

Fascinating marina and associated area, lively and interesting town squares, superb surrounding countryside with many places of interest within easy reach. The choice of restaurants was not as comprehensive as I had expected, but the cafe culture was excellent.

I was there for work.
I was there for work. Ferrol in his own is nothing special, but, people are very kind, there are several places where you can eat fantastic fish tapas (chipirones, marraxo, zamburinas, pimento del Padron,...) and the original "pulpo a la galliega" (I suggest El Pincho), for low prices. Moreover is a very good base point to visit the fantastic Galician's beaches (Pantin on the top) and practice Surf. Also reasonably near are La Coruna and Santiago de Campostela. Generally speaking prices for food and drinking are very friendly and lower than the average of Spain.

The harbour is well worth a visit.
The harbour is well worth a visit. Pleasant buildings and the surrounding area has some notable points of interest: the museum of ship building, the dock yard and the fish market. If walking the camino you can purchase your Pilgrim's passport aka 'Credencial' from one of the local Churches. Get there early though as when I returned to get my stamp (sello) it was closed.

The town itself is rather run down in parts.
The town itself is rather run down in parts. Signs say " a better Ferrol is possible". I hope so.
The station is quite a way from the hotel at which we stayed.
The "Feve" railway starts here and runs into beautiful countryside. Cheap too! 4 hours on the train for5 Euros
I loved this hotel. It was in a great location convenient walking distance to everything, the port, the squares, the sites to visit, the pilgrims office, groceries, etc...etc.. The staff were exceptional, extremely friendly, and welcoming; they explained everything really well, even making clear the unusual route to the upper rooms. After a couple of times, it was easy to find my way around. They had a good breakfast, or a packed lunch, maybe both, but I don't know. I had the breakfast
I stayed in this hotel the night before I started the Camino Inglés. It was a very convenient location for me, not far from the bus terminal and only a 10 walk to the Pilgrim Office/Tourist Information. The room was spacious, very clean and pretty quiet, the owners were friendly and discrete. I did not have breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafés and restaurants in the area. I can recommend this hotel to solo travelers as I felt very safe.
This is a charming hotel right on the Camino Ingles, and served as a nice place to rest before starting out on our pilgrimage. Our room as comfortable, and we had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was a Sunday and many of the town's restaurants and shops were closed, but the helpful staff at the front desk directed us to a few places that were open to pick up items for our walk.
Heated and comfy room!! Perfect for one (or a loving couple), it was quite new, clean and so warm.
Easy parking in the street, very quiet at night or mornings. Enjoyed breakfast at the cafe downstairs. 15 minute walk to the center of Ferrol, but easy to get in and out of the city with the car. Good recommendation for dining out!
Room was spacious, beds were comfortable, breakfast was fantastic, we ate Dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was delicious.
But what really stood out was the attentiveness of the staff, who were so professional and friendly.
A big thankyou to you all at Gran Hotel de Ferrol
El Cairo is in a great location to explore Ferrol. Our room was small, but had everything we needed, and was very clean and comfortable. Beds were super comfy. Carlos is a great host. This is a great value, and a perfect spot for pilgrims beginning the Camino Inglés!
we enjoyed our 1 night stay at this hotel..clean, comfy, good price and location (walking distance from train station, to 0km of camino ingles, to restaruants or bus stop)..the restaurant is good, too..
